Hammett,
PA, July 7, 2013: The BRP Big
Block Modified Tour came to Eriez Speedway, bringing a full field of 28 of the
cars from all over PA, OH, and NY. Scattered showers were predicted all day and
a brief, light shower passed through the area early in the day but at race time
the sky was beautiful with the thermometer in the upper seventies. During
intermission one of the best fireworks displays in the area was presented by
“Fireworks by Gibson” of Titusville.
Ricky Rickner led flag to flag for the win in a race that saw several cautions
and two red flags, one for a flip and one for a pileup that had the track
blocked.

With the field set through heat races
Steve Barr and Chris Haines sat on the front row for their thirty-lap A-main.
The front row ran side by side for a lap with Barr gaining the upper hand just
as caution flew for a two-car incident in turn four. After another yellow Barr
again led the way with Ricky Richner coming into second at lap six and was
looking low for the lead a lap later, getting by at the flag at the completion
of eight laps. At halfway the order was Rickner, Haines, Barr, Kevin Hoffman,
and Brad Rapp. As the leaders took the halfway signal Brad Rapp and Chad Brachmann,
the tour point leader got hooked nose to tail on the front straight slowing
suddenly. Unable to slow in time, Rex King, Sr. got into the rear of Kyle Fink
who had slowed to avoid contact, causing King, Sr. to flip one and a half times
at the end of the straight. King was uninjured in the accident. A second red
flag was thrown the next lap after the restart when seven cars piled up in turn
one, blocking the track. Two more cautions were necessary to complete the event
with six laps remaining. Rickner went on to the win over Kevin Hoffman, who got
by Haines for second with five to go. On the final lap Chad Brachman got by
Haines on the final straightaway to finish third.  Ron Cartright rounded out the top five.

Sixth through tenth went to Dave Murdick,
Mike Turner, Steve Barr who faded in the closing laps, Joe Kubiniec and Jeff
Schaffer.  Heats were won by Chad
Brachmann, Rex King, Sr. and Steve Barr.

Finish:
Ricky Richner, Kevin Hoffman, Chad Brachmann, Chris Haines, Ron

9/15/12…..ForImmediate Release….The BRP/Hoosier Tire Modified Tourmade their second visit of the season at Pittsburgh’sPennsylvania Motor Speedway for the running of the Pittsburgher 100 and RexKing, Sr. got to work out his frustrations on the speedway. “I wasaggravated all day, just everything with the weather yesterday and we had toget here early today.” The wait was worth it though, as King found somemoisture low in turns three and four just past the midpoint of the race andsaid that the “tacky stuff launched right up here and away we went.”

Mark Frankhouser and Mike Turnerled the field to the drop of the green flag with Mike Turner taking the lead onthe start.  . Randy Chrysler, who won the$500 King of the Hill race earlier in the day, jumped into second from sixth onthe grid. But the biggest move on the opening lap belonged to series pointsleader, Brian Weaver, who advanced from twelfth to fifth.

Chrysler claimed the lead on thesecond circuit, with Brad Rapp and Weaver in tow. Weaver was working theoutside line effectively and took second away from Rapp just one laplater.  While Chrysler continued to lead overWeaver and Rapp, Rex King, Sr. worked his way into fourth and Dave Murdickfollowed him to fifth.

The first stoppage of the raceoccurred on lap 19, when Don Brown spun. Chrysler surrendered the lead toWeaver on the restart. In just two laps, King blasted into second.

After King found the moisture, hewas able to reel in Weaver. On lap 26, he powered off the bottom of turn fourwith the lead. Soon thereafter, the second and final caution was displayed forBrown, who came to a stop near the backstretch pit entrance.

King led Weaver on the restart, with Chrysler and Murdick close behind. However, the fastest car on the trackin the closing laps belonged to Eric Gabany. He picked up several positions inthe stretch run.

King swept under the checkersfirst, followed by Weaver and Chrysler. Gabany was fourth, with Murdick fifth.  Rex King, Jr. was sixth, with Rick Ricknernext. Rapp faded to eighth. Jeremiah Shingledecker and Kevin Hoffman were ninthand tenth, respectively.  Heats went tothe top three touring drivers: Weaver, Murdick and Shingledecker

Skip Moore has been waiting a long time to get to victorylane, a long 9 years if you can believe that as his last win was at Tri CitySpeedway on May 18, 2003.  “We had allthose problems on Saturday night at Sharonand didn’t run time trials, or the heat race as we were having MSD electricalfailure and also spark plug failure. Besides that we had to replace the transmission three times and werehaving some engine problems.  Then Sundaynight our troubles continued as we broke a transmission line before the heatrace and had to replace it, but we went out and won the heat and the feature.  So it turned out to be a really greatnight.  I want to thank my sponsorsMuscle Lubricants,R & R Construction, McCool’s Signs and Graphics; SlipperyRock Sportswear, Nichols-Hepp Racing Engines, GME Steering, #1 Speed Centerand Moore’s Auto Body,”said Moore. Moorewas not going to be denied on Sunday evening as he led from green to checker topick up his second win of his career and his first Modified Tour feature event.

The seventh leg of the Modified Tour racing series was heldat Eriez Speedway on Sunday night of Labor Day weekend and leading the field tothe drop of the green flag by virtue of the handicapped system used by theModified Tour, Skip Moore and Shawn Fleeger started on the pole for theevent.  At the drop of the green flag, Moore gained theadvantage over Fleeger and led the group of cars through the first turn.  Coming down the back stretch, Chris Hainesworked his way into second with Mike Turner running third.  The trio raced this way through lap four whenKevin Hoffman started getting into the mix and passed Turner for third.  Moorewas using the high side of the speedway to his advantage while Haines wasapplying the pressure from the bottom of the speedway.

A caution on lap 14 for Shawn Fleeger who spun in turn threegrouped the field back together.  On theensuing restart, Haines got the jump on Moorebut a caution for Brad Rapp who spun in the second turn brought the group backtogether with Moorestill the leader.  On the next restart, Moore was not to bedenied the lead and got the jump over Haines. Moorecontinued his charge at the front, but a caution with two laps to go for aslowing Ricky Richner who had a flat tire brought the field together for thefinal two laps.

On the restart, Moore and Haines were side by side comingoff the turn and made slight contact about the flag stand.  The contact was just enough for Haines toslide high in turn one allowing Jeremiah Shingledecker who started in theseventh position to get by for second.  Moore held on the finaltwo laps to pick up the feature win over Shingledecker, Haines, Rex King, Jrand Brian Weaver.  Rounding out the topten were Eric Gabany, Kevin Hoffman, Brad Rapp, Rex King, Sr and MikeTurner.  Heat races were won by BradRapp, Dave Murdick and Skip Moore.

The Contingency Connection award winners were Skip Moore,Eric Gabany and Shawn Fleeger while gift certificates from Bully Dog wereawarded to Skip Moore, Ricky Richner and Kevin Hoffman.
